FOCUS 08 TO SEE HARMAN PHOTO GLOSS WARMTONE GIVEAWAY
Visitors to Europe’s largest annual imaging show will be able to pick up free samples of the eagerly awaited fourth paper in HARMAN’s pioneering inkjet range
Following hot on the heels of its GLOSS FB AL paper which was greeted by global acclaim in 2007, HARMAN PHOTO (the inkjet brand of pioneering imaging specialist HARMAN technology Limited) is about to launch a warmtone version of the product. HARMAN PHOTO GLOSS FB AL WARMTONE will be officially available in UK stores at the end of February and to celebrate, the manufacturer intends to give away 2,500 free sample packs of the paper on its stand (Stand C2, Hall 9) at FOCUS ON IMAGING 2008.
Those fortunate enough to pick up a pack at the event, which runs from the 24th to the 27th February at Birmingham’s NEC, are in for something of a treat. The eagerly awaited GLOSS FB AL WARMTONE will continue HARMAN technology’s tradition of supplying the photographer with true fibre base inkjet papers for high quality giclee printing.
Set to be available in A4, A3, A3+ and A2+ (17x25") sheets, as well as 17”, 24” and 44" rolls, it will offer all the same benefits as the brand’s GLOSS FB AL paper but with the added inclusion of a warmtone tint for photographers looking to create black and white prints with creamy whites and velvety blacks. Plus, for the first time ever and in direct response to customer requests, HARMAN PHOTO will be offering the paper in 25-sheet packs not just at A2+, but for A3 and A3+ sizes as well.
In addition, and like the rest of the HARMAN PHOTO range, which also includes MATT FB Mp and MATT FB Mp WARMTONE, the new paper will be manufactured entirely at HARMAN’s dedicated production facility in Mobberley, Cheshire, enabling the company to maintain consistent – and high levels of quality.
Even more notably, the new GLOSS FB AL WARMTONE, like its sister products, employs photo fibre Baryta. Widely associated with premium quality silver gelatine papers such as MULTIGRADE™ FB (which is produced by fellow HARMAN technology business ILFORD PHOTO), Baryta is a special coating that is traditionally applied to a fibre photographic paper base prior to coating with the emulsion layers. The technical benefits of the Baryta layer include greater detail and definition, extended tonal range and excellent archival properties. In addition, Baryta coated fibre papers have a unique look and feel which have become the standard for fine art photographers worldwide.
This fine art feel is further enhanced by the paper’s weight. At 320gsm, the GLOSS FB AL WARMTONE enjoys a strong resemblance to a traditional photographic print – a fact that has led to the other HARMAN PHOTO papers receiving praise from photographers across the world time and time again.
Aside from these benefits, the GLOSS FB AL WARMTONE also employs a unique nanoporous Alumina coating. This ensures a smooth gloss finish that really brings both colour and black and white images to life. An additional feature is the use of new and revolutionary anti-curl technology, which ensures the paper lies completely flat, both before and after printing.
Speaking of the new product, HARMAN PHOTO Marketing Director, Howard Hopwood, said: “At HARMAN technology, we’re every bit as passionate about photography as the people who use our products. As such, we understand that different photographers have different desires, tastes and aims when it comes to producing prints. To accommodate these diverse needs we are committed to offering a complete range of analogue and digital media and the new GLOSS FB AL WARMTONE is an evident example of this.”
“We are confident its impressive performance and ability to deliver superior results will make it an instant hit with both amateur and professional photographers alike.”

NOTES TO EDITORS –
HARMAN technology Limited is a pioneering imaging specialist based in Mobberley, Cheshire. The company - which was born of the ILFORD formed by Alfred Harman in 1879 - now includes three, separate and well known brands: ILFORD PHOTO which manufactures traditional monochrome photographic products; HARMAN PHOTO which produces a range of high-end inkjet media for both colour and monochrome prints; and KENTMERE PHOTOGRAPHIC which produces a range of photography and inkjet papers, including Opaljet.
The ILFORD range of inkjet products, including ‘ILFORD Galerie’, is not associated with HARMAN technology in any way, and is actually manufactured and marketed by a separate organisation based in Switzerland.
