HARMAN PHOTO JOINS THE SOCIAL NETWORKING REVOLUTION
The photography world has always had a close sense of community and with the increasing popularity of social networking sites, photographers are now finding it easier than ever to communicate with fellow enthusiasts wherever they are on the globe.
Keen to be a part of this online revolution and to get even closer to the people who share its passion for all forms of photography, pioneering imaging specialist, HARMAN technology Limited has now launched a MySpace page dedicated specifically to its high-end photographic inkjet media brand - HARMAN PHOTO.
The new page follows hot on the heels of the page created by HARMAN for its ILFORD PHOTO brand in 2007. Within months of appearing on MySpace, which is one of the top ranking social networking sites with 300 million users worldwide, the ILFORD PHOTO page had obtained near cult status - attracting hundreds of ‘friends’ ranging from professionals to keen enthusiasts.
Howard Hopwood, marketing director at HARMAN technology Limited explains:
“ILFORD PHOTO’s presence on the MySpace site was the first for a global photography brand. It was created as a means of showing our support for the international black and white photographic community and of encouraging increased interaction by allowing people to post comments, send us messages and even submit their own photographs for us to showcase on the page.
Monochrome photographers across the world flocked to the ILFORD PHOTO page. Now with HARMAN PHOTO also on MySpace, we hope to see the same positive reaction from the digital photography community.”
Of course, the interaction offered by the HARMAN PHOTO page will be two-way. Not only will it allow MySpace users to ask questions of the HARMAN team and give feedback on HARMAN PHOTO products, but it will also be used by HARMAN to post bulletins and relay information covering everything from new product developments to exclusive competitions.
Howard Hopwood continues:
“HARMAN technology has always moved with the times. It’s this approach that inspired us to take the extensive experience gained manufacturing monochrome products for over 100 years and develop a digital range that offers equal levels of quality and performance. Creating a MySpace page is simply an extension of this commitment to staying abreast of the times.
It will offer a wealth of information to the digital photographer while complementing the existing HARMAN PHOTO website.”
The page is located at www.myspace.com/harmanphoto and welcomes photographers, designers, students and enthusiasts alike.

NOTES TO EDITORS –
HARMAN technology Limited is a pioneering imaging specialist based in Mobberley, Cheshire. The company - which was born of the ILFORD formed by Alfred Harman in 1879 - now includes three, separate and well known brands: ILFORD PHOTO which manufactures traditional monochrome photographic products; HARMAN PHOTO which produces a range of high-end inkjet media for both colour and monochrome prints; and KENTMERE PHOTOGRAPHIC which produces a range of photography and inkjet papers, including Opaljet.
The ILFORD range of inkjet products, including ‘ILFORD Galerie’, is not associated with HARMAN technology in any way, and is actually manufactured and marketed by a separate organisation based in Switzerland.
