Leading imaging specialist HARMAN technology launches online presence
HARMAN technology Ltd, the company behind ILFORD PHOTO, HARMAN PHOTO and now KENTMERE PHOTOGRAPHIC, is set to raise awareness of its extensive expertise and capabilities through a new and innovative website. The online presence went live in early November and has already been well received - attracting a significant number of hits from browsers across the world.
Viewable at www.harmantechnology.com, the site allows visitors to discover more about the dynamic Cheshire based business, its well respected photography and inkjet media brands, and its history which stretches back to the ILFORD originally formed by Alfred Harman in 1879. There’s also the opportunity to ‘meet’ some of the many people behind the company’s on-going success – with brief profiles of certain HARMAN employees being displayed on the main homepage.
In addition, the site outlines how HARMAN’s expertise extends beyond imaging. Over recent years, the progressive manufacturer has begun applying its experience, scientific understanding and specialist technology to new areas. These areas include holographic films, products for the medical and nuclear industries, and even the development of fuel cells able to deliver electrical power without producing any form of pollution.
Speaking of the new site, HARMAN technology’s marketing director Howard Hopwood said: “HARMAN technology is a large and increasingly diverse business. Photography products and inkjet media will always remain our core focus. However the same skills, R&D capabilities, and in-depth understanding of nano-technology and the photographic process that allows us to excel in these areas can be used to develop solutions for other markets as well.”

The company - which was born of the ILFORD formed by Alfred Harman in 1879 - now includes three, separate and well known brands: ILFORD PHOTO which manufactures traditional monochrome photographic products; HARMAN PHOTO which produces a range of high-end inkjet media for both colour and monochrome prints; and KENTMERE PHOTOGRAPHIC who produce a range of photography and inkjet papers, including K.Opaljet.
The ILFORD range of inkjet products, including ‘ILFORD Galerie’, is not associated with HARMAN technology in any way, and is actually manufactured and marketed by a separate business based in Switzerland.
