NEW HARMAN PHOTO GLOSS FB. NOW AVAILABLE IN THE US

The third paper in HARMAN’s pioneering inkjet range is fully launched in North America

Photographers across North America now have access to a truly next generation inkjet media. It’s thanks to the widespread introduction of HARMAN PHOTO Professional Inkjet GLOSS FB AL paper, which was launched on to the US market in August this year.

Available in Letter, B, Super B and A2+ (17x25") sheets, as well as 17”, 24” and 44" rolls, this latest addition to the HARMAN PHOTO Professional Inkjet paper range continues HARMAN’s tradition of supplying the photographer with true fiber base inkjet papers for high quality giclee printing.

It compliments the company’s existing MATT FB Mp and MATT FB Mp WARMTONE papers, which were unveiled earlier this year and which have already built up a significant following amongst the US photographic community. All three papers are manufactured entirely at HARMAN’s dedicated production facility in Mobberley, England, enabling the company to maintain consistent levels of quality.

Even more notably, all three papers - the new GLOSS FB AL included - employ real photo fiber Baryta. Widely associated with premium quality silver gelatin papers such as ILFORD MULTIGRADE IV FB FIBER, Baryta is a special coating that is traditionally applied to a fiber photographic paper base prior to coating with the emulsion layers. The technical benefits of the baryta layer include greater detail and definition, extended tonal range and excellent archival properties. In addition, baryta coated fiber papers have a unique look and feel which have become the standard for fine art photographers worldwide.

This fine art feel is further enhanced by the paper’s weight. At 320gsm, GLOSS FB AL enjoys a strong resemblance to a traditional photographic print – a fact that has been praised time and time again in initial feedback from US photographers.

Indeed, respected photographer Richard Lohmann from Luminous Landscapes, who has been testing the product, had this to say: “After two months of printing on HARMAN GLOSS FB AL, I believe that HARMAN has produced a wonderful new paper. It gives photographers who appreciate silver prints something they have been requesting for more than a decade... a smooth, traditional surface made from stable organic materials.”

Aside from these benefits, the GLOSS FB AL also employs a unique nanoporous Alumina coating. This ensures a smooth gloss finish that really brings both color and black and white images to life. An additional feature is the use of new and revolutionary anti-curl technology, which ensures the paper lies completely flat, both before and after printing.

Speaking of the new product, HARMAN’s President of Marketing for North America, Steven Brierley, said: “To date the reception to the HARMAN PHOTO Professional Inkjet GLOSS FB AL paper has been incredibly favourable. We spent a long time developing the product and are very pleased with the outcome. It seems photographers across the US share that sentiment and we look forward to seeing its popularity grow as more and more people become aware of the paper’s unique benefits.”
