HARMAN technology Limited was formed in 2005 by 6 former managers of ILFORD Imaging UK Limited.
HARMAN technology acquired the facilities at Mobberley, Cheshire, England, where ILFORD products have been designed and manufactured for many years, enabling us to continue making and selling the world famous ILFORD brand of black and white photographic products.
The company trades as ILFORD PHOTO for the range of monochrome film, paper, and photo chemistry products.
The name HARMAN comes from Alfred Hugh Harman who founded the original ILFORD company in 1879.
The company will continue the long history and commitment to producing quality and specialist products for the professional imaging industry, whilst confirming support to the education sector. Nearly 400 people are employed at Mobberley, with technology and production capability up to full capacity. Eighty-five per cent of output is being exported, and global distribution channels are all open. In future developments the HARMAN brand will be applied to other aspects of the company’s business, such as thin-layer film and paper coating for the medical sector.
HARMAN technology Limited is a pioneering professional imaging specialist which in 2007 announced the launch of its own range of inkjet media under the HARMAN PHOTO brand. The range features a real photo baryta base giving true photographic weight and feel to the paper. The imaging technology behind the paper has been extensively researched and the formulation gives an outstanding image quality in terms of extensive colour gamut, excellent tones and archival permanence properties.
Designed for digital fine art printing, HARMAN PHOTO Professional Inkjet Paper is of exhibition and museum quality. Specially designed anti curl technology ensures the prints remain flat after printing.
HARMAN technology Limited does not make or sell the range of ILFORD brand colour or digital products. These items are manufactured by ILFORD Imaging Switzerland GmbH which is part of the Oji Paper Co. Ltd, based in Japan.
